ROCKFORD, IL - Looking to expand their marketing reach and add to their growing marketing department, Obsidian Manufacturing Industries, Inc. has added a new marketing specialist in the likes of Ben Nordman this month.

Obsidian, a manufacturing company based in Rockford, Ill., adds Nordman following his completion of a master’s degree in Sport Leadership from North Central College in Naperville, Ill.

Obsidian has recently expanded their production lines, adding Arter Grinders to the existing lines of MagnaLift and Power-Grip lift magnets and Magna-Lock USA workholding solutions. Since the addition, President Sue Nordman has wanted to add to the marketing department with the growing demand for marketing the business.

“I had been handling most of the marketing for many years. It was becoming too much for me to handle with all of my other responsibilities,” said Nordman. “This is a great opportunity for the company because I’m handing things over to someone that I have a tremendous amount of confidence in to do great things for the company. He is more than ready to take on this role and I couldn’t be more ready to hand it over to him.”

While completing his master’s degree, Nordman worked as a graduate assistant in the Sports Information Department at North Central, handling multiple duties within the athletics department, including communications and marketing for the NCAA Division III institution’s 27 varsity sports.

“I’m excited to get started within a company that I have been around for essentially my entire life,” said Nordman, referring to his years of his parents involving him in assisting around the company. “I think I have a lot to offer and I truly believe that my ideas and past experience will bring new life to the marketing department. Sue has done a great job handling the marketing over the past few years but having myself specifically focus on that aspect of the business will help the company in all aspects.”
