Obsidian Manufacturing Certified as EDWOSB by Small Business Administration
Rockford, IL manufacturer Obsidian Manufacturing Industries, Inc. has recently been certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as an Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Business (EDWOSB), opening itself up for new business opportunities.
The program is intended to assist women-owned businesses in competing for work with government contracts, leveling the playing field for the select companies.
Each Women Owned Small Business must meet the following criteria:
- Be a small business according to SBA size standards
- Be at least 51% owned and controlled by women who are U.S. citizens
- Have women manage day-to-day operations who also make long-term decisions
For the additional EDWOSB certification, the company must meet additional requirements regarding the financial status of the controlling party of the business.
Sue Nordman, President of Obsidian Manufacturing Industries, Inc. since 2018, is eager about this certification and what it means for Obsidian moving forward.
“We're excited about this certification and the possibilities that come with it,” said Nordman. "The purpose of this program is to provide a level playing field for future work and we are looking forward to showing what we can provide."
