Obsidian Manufacturing Expands Marketing Department with

Addition of Nordman

 

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Looking to expand their marketing reach and add to their growing

marketing department, Obsidian Manufacturing Industries, Inc. has added a new

marketing specialist in the likes of Ben Nordman this month.

Obsidian, a manufacturing company based in Rockford, Ill., adds Nordman following his completion of a master’s degree in Sport Leadership from North Central College in Naperville, Ill.

​

Obsidian has recently expanded their production lines, adding Arter Grinders to the existing lines of MagnaLift and Power-Grip lift magnets and Magna-Lock USA workholding solutions. Since the addition, President Sue Nordman has wanted to add to the marketing department with the growing demand for marketing as the business grows.

​

“I had been handling most of the marketing for many years. It was becoming too much for me to handle with all of my other responsibilities,” said Nordman. “This is a great opportunity for the company because I’m handing things over to someone that I have a tremendous amount of confidence in to do great things for the company. He is more than ready to take on this role and I couldn’t be more ready to hand it over to him.”

While completing his master’s degree, Nordman worked as a graduate assistant in the Sports Information Department at North Central, handling multiple duties within the athletics department, including communications and marketing for the NCAA Division III institution’s 26 varsity sports.

​

“I’m excited to get started within a company that I have been around for essentially my entire life,” said Nordman, referring to his years of his parents involving him in assisting in multiple aspects of the company. “I think I have a lot to offer and I truly believe that my ideas and past experience will bring new life to the marketing department. Sue has done a great job handling the marketing over the past few years but having myself specifically focus on that aspect of the business will help the company in all aspects.”
